Contentment

Someone a while back asked me the question, how would you paint a picture of contentment? Well here is what I came up with the image is called "Dreamers".  It shows a grandmother and a granddaughter dreaming together under a warm blanket. I think this acrylic piece says all there is to say about true contentment.

Wicked Wort Joins The Club

The Wicked Wort Brewery in downtown Robbinsdale officially joined the legendary bar club with the hanging of the "Welcome To Birdtown" artwork this past week. What a fun piece to paint. This piece has a lot of stuff going on in the art that will be sure to have anyone that views it have another look. The Wort is such a fun place to socialize with friends, good beer and good food to boot just a great place.

This was a recent commission work of boats moored at harbor in the morning mist. I always enjoy a graphite departure from paint. Three different pencils were used in this 11x14"  image and my goal was to capture the mood while highlighting the "LOVE" sign on the building to the left. fun piece to do and a nice change of pace I do not get a chance to draw many boats especial cool sailboats.

A Fortune of Patience

This 30"x 46" acrylic painting represents a lot of different emotions in a visual. In choosing a background  I tried to make it obvious that it is fall because of the yellow color of the corn husks waiting to be harvested. I also wanted to leave it to the viewer to decide judging by the sun is it early morning or late in the day almost dusk but not quite. Then finally, two different hands one young one old holding the same fortune cookie wisdom quote, "Be patient good things come to those who wait." This will be part of the farm series of pieces for those looking for prints.

The Letter

I have been wanting to do a piece with some dramatic natural lighting and this study was a fun one to do. I used a variety of materials for the subject matter references and the process gave me some new ideas for composition using light and shadows in another piece I am working on.
